CILCA 2009: III International Conference on Life Cycle Assessment of Latin America

CILCA 2009: Creating a Platform for Regional Researchers, Practitioners and Initiatives

The Conference is focusing on how, Local and Regional Business Initiatives, and Global Policy Measures regarding Sustainable Consumption and Production, Open Opportunities for Using LCA and Life Cycle Thinking, in Latin-America.

CILCA will be also an opportunity to identify and analyse what is done and needed for developing databases and impact assessment models according to the site dependent and site specific conditions of Latin America. Applied and theoretical aspects of LCA will be presented and discussed during the Conference, with specific attention to methodological tools, and other key issues involved in adopting and expanding Life Cycle Thinking as part of decision making processes in Latin-America, in the context of sustainable development.

Among the subjects to be treated during the Conference under the LCA Perspective, are:

  • LCIA models and the challenge of developing them in less-populated areas, efficient use of natural resources (minerals, water, energy) and materials (Resource Productivity);
  • waste management and recycling;
  • influence of procurement and supply chain management;
  • climate change effects (Carbon Footprints etc.);
  • sustainable consumption and production;
  • use of biofuels in the Latin-American context;
  • ecolabeling and product declarations;
  • strategic environmental assessment;
  • LCM;
  • corporate social responsibility and other social issues;
  • sustainable agriculture and forestry;
  • LCC;
  • green building sector.

Ideas for special sessions are invited.
Submit abstracts on the topics indicated in English with a maximum length of 500 words.

The deadline for abstract submission is 30 of November of 2008 for Oral Presentation, and 31 of January of 2009 for Poster Session.
