Life Cycle Assessment VIII, organized by Tha American Center for Life Cycle Assessment, is a continuation of the InLCA series of conferences. Amy Zettlemoyer of Wal-Mart will be keynoting conference this year, talking about the use of LCA in their sustainability program.

The meeting is planned around three tracks: LCA, LCM, and Special Sessions.

Abstracts for the LCA and LCM tracks are due 15 May.

The LCA and LCM tract sessions will be organized from the submitted abstracts. We expect that there will be sessions on:

LCA and Climate Change

LCA in Retail
LCA and Voluntary Standards
Life Cycle Approaches to Local and State Regulation
Progress in Life Cycle Certification Programs
Life Cycle Assessment Methods
Social LCA Approaches
Education for Life Cycle Assessment and Management
New Initiatives in LCA & LCM
Life Cycle Inventory Data Studies
New Methods in LCA
New Life Cycle Applications

A number of Special Sessions are in the planning process: Local government use of LCA, Open Source LCA Software, Future Developments of LCA in ISO, Ecosystem Services, Industry-Focused Impact Assessment, Rebound Effects,Assuring LCA  Quality, and Social LCA.

Consider adding your voice and sharing new ideas on life cycle assessment and life cycle approaches by submitting an abstract or suggesting a special session.

If you have students, please bring the conference to their attention and encourage them to submit an abstract. We will be offering the first test for LCA professional certification, and that should help them find jobs even quicker.
